Halfway There!

My supervisor/pharmacist, Leonie and I were so worried because Mr. Rama the other phamarcist left. Then it'll be just the two of us for God-knows-how-long. They desperately needed to hire a new dispenser. and a permanent pharmacist. Two of us ain't gonna last long with the workload we are handling. Last week i had worked with only one pharmacist at each given day. I was half dying by thursday. But thankfully, Friday was a peaceful day.

Those schoolkids are hving a good two weeks off. This was a blessing because most of our patient load are office workers, the tourists come in second and families (of the panels) usually during saturdays. The timing couldn't have been better, as it was school holiday, not only was the traffic smoother, our patientload has surprisingly decreased as well. It was a laidback week so far. Had a few 'prescription-storms' here and there. Not as often as we used to.. was a good thing.

I've been receiving alot of of
"so you're doing ur intern/training/posting here?". (to which i'd reply "yea well," ,too tired of explaining).
"studying pharmacy?" (smiles, thinks, "i'm studying medicine actually")
Observes changes on their face. Some politely just says "oh!:D"

I had the chance to talk with Dr. Lua a few days ago, an Occupational Health Physician. He said his son was in IMU, almost finishing second year of work in Dundee. When he knew i was studying medicine, he asked me what am i doing at the pharmacy, shouldn't i be following doctors around instead?

And today, with Dr. Koh, an ENT specialist. He was asking me about what kind of antihistamine nasal sprays and original antihistamine tables we have in stock. Then he got to know i'm in IMU. Apparently he used to be a lecturer in Sban GH, he said he even set-up the ENT team in IMU clinical school, and some of the questions from the bank were his! :) He was telling me about the 'those days' stories, and how IMU Seremban Clinicals came about. He mentioned names of lecturers that i've never heard of. Haha.

Last Saturday was IMU Graduation. Congrats to all in the deans list, gold medalist our very own hammy ;D, and of course all the rest for making it past phase1, we're halfway there! Glad to be in M204, a batch that created history time and again. After our IMU Cup victory, we created history by hving 74 in dean's list (usually 7-15 as prof victor had said). i'll post up some pics when i got time over d weekend.

Working makes me tired even if i was just sitting there whole day. I still have half a month to go!

Banana Pancakes .. we could pretend it all the time

It has a cute, catchy tune. Jack Johnson makes me feel like i do deserve a good weeekend in, doin nothing but just lazing in bed, forget the world outside. And that's exactly wat i did.

I had it all set, i needed my booster dose of Borders and Starbucks. desperately. and then i reached home after a half-day work on Saturday; i was homealone the whole afternoon.. my eyes getting heavier staring at my notebook screen. And then it started to rain outside.. ah, the perfect weather. to sleep. i fought my withdrawal symptoms, telling myself i can put it off til tomorrow. i've got the whole day sunday.

And yet, came Sunday, i woke up and went to town for a delicious curry laksa breakfast with mom and dad. oh, i will so miss all these moments when i go to uk. and then we got home, with a full tummy and a whole week's worth of sleep to catch....

nope. i didnt sleep ;D i simply wasted the day away. i still didn't end up goin to Borders. I sulked abit, but it's just normal to hv withdrawal symptoms when it doesn't work. yet again. put it off yet another week. i'm used to doing it. Now no matter waht happens, next sunday i shall be there.

Graduation's on Saturday. Friday's rehearsal and i had to go off work at 2pm. I feel so proud of myself. I'm finally graduating!!:D But i know i'm only halfway there..

Talking abt pancakes, I miss the pancakes in Double Dutch, Bristol. Sighh.

It was under refurbishment not long after i ate there. It was still when i tried my luck again early last year. I wonder if it's done yet.

You hardly even notice when i try to show u this, song is meant to keep ya from doing what u're s'posed to, like waking up too early, maybe we can sleep in pretend like it's the weekend now... we could pretend it all the time. ;D

Can't you see that it's just raining, there ain't no need to go outside.

I'm Alive!

Ever since i started working, i started to realise how much more precious weekends have become. And how much more extra precious public holidays are. especially when u work 5-and-a-half-days a week. my legs are constantly tired. dad laughed at me when i complained how tired i am even after a day's work. he says he's been doing that for the past few decades!
So i make it up for my lost days by dropping in at Borders at least once a month. I finally stepped into Midvalley in April, i think it's been more than 2 months since i last did. (the last was when we watched curse of the golden flower, serious!) i felt so much more human after that. and i missed 1U as well.

During the previous PC Fair i've gotten myself a new vaio!! and an external HDD. woohoo! soo soo happy!
And from work, i've gotten myself an autographed photo with Tun M & his wife! ;)
Sunday went out with Eve,Li,Shirlyn(LayIn),SuetMay&Shang..we ate at Delicious Cafe! yum... we had so so much to catch up. after tat, the rest had to leave early, so eve and i walked ard til late evening.

Well, yesterday and today was public holiday (which meant double yay!) But happy times really flies! So yesterday me and nic and emma met up with Vikki for lunch. Vikki's my ALvls classmate who's currently studying in Penang Medical College and she's back for the long stretch of hols. We ate at Italiannies and surprised her with a candle on top of the tiramisu that we ordered, and had the italiannies team sang her a bday cheer for! (we celebrated her bday early cos she's gonna be in penang and us in kl on d real day) haha ;D Vikki left around 3half, cos she had to meet up with her cousins and all. we continued walking around. trying out dresses and such. We finally left at 5plus.
nicemmavikkime!!
The "Drink Lots of Water" Advertisement! :P

At night i went to SKYBar! Li came over to my house and we went to skybar together, jay, joey & eve were already there. We had fun listening to d latest gossips and exchanging stories..

SKYBAR

I wudnt get up until 11am today, cos these days i hardly hv time to sleep til so late. Then mom said we're goin to a family friend's house for Chicken Rice lunch, apparently, at noon. So i quickly got ready and left. luckily tho their house's js like, 5 minutes away. They had different kinds of chicken (kampung chicken and non etc.) but which to me are, 'just chicken'.:P We ate til we were so so full.. but the chilli was really delicious! Then Clifford suggested to play Monopoly so four of us ended up playing.. it was fun at first, haha, but later on i was hoping to be 'in jail' more stepping into other's lands were even scarier. I was glad when the game has to end tho, i was like losing my properties one by one anyway. ;( better luck nex time! I didn't realise we played til so late it was already 4 by the time we were back home. Just a short rest, and had dinner with my grandmother and granduncle&aunt.

It's a Tuesday which felt very much like a Sunday. Except better, cos tmr will be Weds (and not MOnday) so the week is shorter by far.

1.5 more months!! And i'll be on full holiday mode!~ Can't wait for them fr oz to be bac for winter! I can't wait for Aus and HK trip!!! And hopefully Penang! And Ipoh/Taiping makan trip!! wooo.... and then August will come to an end and i'll be flying off to UK. I'm still excited at the moment. But, for how long more before i get those mixed feelings they always talk abt? :D

Isnt it Strange how we all get alittle bit weird sometimes

working has been crazy. fun, but absolutely energy-draining. imagine waking up everyday at 6.30a.m. and then working from 9-6. or 8.30-5.30, depends. i'm currently working at the pharmacy dept of the twin towers med centre.. good learning experience. i begin to familiarise myself with vaccines , malarial prophylaxis and certain drugs, finding myself being able to pick up slightly more speed by the end of one month. u can never imagine how lost i felt during my first day of work.

Ok here (at long last) goes, i've been tagged twice (so many weeks back), by both sakthi & christine ;D
Each player of this game starts off by giving 6 weird things about themselves. People who get tagged need to write in a blog of their own 6 weird things as
well as state the rules clearly. In the end, you need to choose 6 people to be tagged and list their names. After you do that, leave them each a comment
letting them know you tagged them and to read your blog.
6 weird things about myself..
1. i love collecting random stuffs. it all started with a normal stamp collecting hobby (that by now has faded off) and replaced with keychains, postcards,
wrappers, (nonmechanical) pencils, foreign currencies, old/new coins, cards, apparel tags, teddies, boxes, and when i was younger cute erasers as well!

2. i love to take pic of cute/nice inanimated stuffs. eg. a cup of almost empty milo making a smileyface, armadillo-shaped clouds in the skies, signboards/funny ads on the streets, microscopic view of a endometrial with a reindeer shaped gland (inside MMS:P), or a heart shaped button mushroom. but all these are very amateur attempts.

3. when i'm upset i gulp down plenty of water ... at least its non alcoholic so it doesnt cost my liver, and i most prob'd hv stopped b4 i die of water intox.

4. i sometimes say things out of the blue (of cos it was already running in my mind before i blurted it), not remembering to explain wat i was talking about beforehand, assuming ppl can read minds. esp when it was in the middle of another conversation it can sound totally weird. but its not entirely my fault... i prob inherited this fr my mom.:P

5. i cant stand staying at home for too long (eg. 2 whole days) i'd diee screaming of boredom. but then i'd go out and realised i miss home not too long after. wahahaaaa.. (p/s: this doesnt really apply during sales )

6. i cant think of nething really weird anymore. dey say girls r supposed to dig chocs .. but i dont go crazy over. but i love ice-creams alot, :D so maybe dat sort of covers my lack of choc crave. however, darren, i still very much, def WAN my kokoblack when i go melb :D *weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee*
okla tats it... of course, maybe u'll find even weirder things abt me i fail to mention here, then tat's js lucky u ;D

6 people i'll tag..
i'm very lazey to search ppl who hasnt been tagged to tag.. its very mafan cos so many has been tagged so i tag those who's been tagged but has not responded, yet. haha, aiyo this part is even tougher than d above part.

1. hamster .. hauchun
2. evie ( uve been tagged but still hvnt written out urs!! )
3. james ong
4. yvonne woon
5. derrick-shing
6. li yeen
tag, u're iT!

Love each other or perish

Right after finals was over, we celebrated in Marche and Laundry bar. I gave myself excuse to play until results came out. Then it was Li's birthday surprise. Traveling to KLIA two days in a row and sending friends off. Catching up with friends - from kindergarten to highschool to college and uni mates. Shopping shopping!! Singapore trip was a blast. More Makanclub outings - bakkutteh and cookout at suetmay's! I hadn't stopped..

This year it was different. I moved on without reiterrating about last year as i have done the years before. I didn't took the time to, even after my finals. Or after the results were released.

Perhaps i didn't want to.

I blamed it on being busy, i have been going out everyday. I wake up to a new day and i'm rushing through it. Life's been a roller coaster ride ever since exam ended. Everyday i had something to do, somewhere to go. Perhaps I didn't want to slow down. Perhaps being bored meant I'll be wasting every minute of my precious time left before I start my clinical years. But every now and then I wished I could slow down, watch the sunset, take in the breeze (maybe endup coughing a little), play with my darling dog, read a book.

Which was what I finally did!! I picked up a book yesterday, one that i've bought few days ago after months of making a promise to myself to read this book after finals. TUESDAYS WITH MORRIE. Maybe it was just me being my emotional self. I am always amazed at how people facing death face it so calmly. So positive. So accepting. So strong. They make me sad. (I remembered reading a story abt this man with lower motor neurone disease in Readers Digest and sobbing at a restaurant. They must've thought this girl is crazy!) I tried putting myself in their shoes and wonder if I could ever stay so positive about it if it were me. I still get amazed. Tears streamed down my cheeks, and i was only at the second chapter.

I finished my book this morning. I would've finished it yesterday had i not been out, catching up with an old primary schoolmate.

The other day, we surprised nana by paying her a visit at her house before she left for Auckland. As we left, it was slowly sinking in, the fact that all your dear friends are leaving one by one, little by little. We're gona be continents apart. Those people we used to meet everyday in uni. laughed at lame jokes or not so lame ones. gossiped abt the same lecturers. screamed over darts and CS. (Oh which btw we played out last CS battle with the Melbers after Monday Cookout!)

Still my life is on a rush. I'm gonna start work on Friday. Me and LayIn just happened to walked into the twin towers med centre, asked if there were vacancies and minutes later were showed into the GM's office. And after a brief interview, we got hired! The GM was really nice, I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the workcourse will be fine too ;) Wish us luck!

Well I'll start to take time to play with my doggie a while, time just to sit there and stare into the wall like i've always wanted when exams are around the corner.

But til then, today it's Anu's birthday lunch. Tomorrow, the Melbers will be flying off. Day after tmr, I'll officially be a working lady. Saturday, Kar Farn's 21st. The list doesn't end... yet I'm still enjoying this craziness when i'm not done absorbing the one that just passed..

Exam, Shopping and Friday Night

so we had health issues exam. and took pics after tat. after this wld be study break, oh well.

and then as usual we went shopping. this time it was just lay in, liyeen and i.. cos d rest were all busy. and an even more usual phenomenon was meeting more batchmates in mv itself, and have frequent stops hello-ing. We ate at 'Oh! Sushi' and a funny thing was when d server wanted to take our drink order, all of us paused for a bit and said at the exact same time, same pace, same tone: "green tea?". her reaction was the funniest part. stunned. seriously. lol.

and we were passing by Mango when we looked in and saw a pretty gurl, and i tot, hm that looks alot like.. "Evelyn??" at this point she looked up because we said it aloud. lol. so eve joined us for a while. yay;) but christine is still missing.

We then rushed bac to IMU for Friday Night. (Yepo, that annual Friday Night event.. with all the performances and stuff). Or not so much of a rush cos to start wit we left at 7half, half an hour after it was scheduled to start. not to mention the traffic wasnt on our side either. lol. but at least we reached right before INFERNAL AFFAIRS sang. haha. weee. stan, honglim and kent were in the band. it was good arite. and daph danced! she was fabulous! the best part of the event was, this year they even had LECTURERS performing.

So u never KNEW FIA could sing(and dedicated it to his wife)! JPJ could play acoustic guitar to many songs incl 'that thing u do' and sang 'Lunchtime Cowboy' and 'Sleeping Child'(with lyrics modified to imu-based:P) Dr. SRI was on the DRUMS! smashing... and Dr RAJESH dueted with his wife Dr SHARMA. Dr. THANI, dr rajesh and dr sri did a sketch called B.U.M.S (b? university of medical sciences) abt this prospective student on an interview, and then to osce exam and viva! we had such a good laugh, dey were great yet seemed so much lk themselves when they gave lecture. i didnt stay long enuf to watch steph duet with jpj. or the catwalk which must be really cool.

if u thought medical students were a bunch of geeks. u were wrong. even ur lecturers rock. i've always said if IMU werent a medical school, it'd be a school of performing arts. :P

and, i'd be lying if i said i'll never miss IMU.

Moveee

I guess ian finally terminated wizardrie.com cos anyway he's been 'creating a new layout' for far too long. his domain was collecting cobwebs and i hardly ever update too. so landed here. i just lost all my links cos i forgot to copy them out b4 i changed my layout to a template :( sobsob. i took so long to update my link that other time... too lazy now.

21st Birthday

That day was a Monday. It was the week of CNS exam so i expected everyone to be busy studying. Everyone usually turn to nerds in the week of exam! No more makan outings. No more shopping. for that one week. So i wasn't expecting much when i went for lecture as usual that day. yes, and watched a movie with the whole of M204! ('movie' on Epilepsy! insightful tho.)

I was overwhelmed. I received quite some wishes and hugs the moment i entered LT3. Well the lecturer came in slightly late, but i was too busy talking to notice that or when li went down and took the mic. Until of course when she started speaking. Then, the batch sang me a song.. I could feel my face getting red. I don't know how i got so oblivious to my surrounding, didn't realise Evie holding a cake(choc mud cake!) and walking towards me. I gasped. And then I noticed Christine standing behind Evie, holding a huge box (It had shops and teddy bears design all over it, really really cute, and it's the ONE i pointed very nice! very nice! to lay in at Ikano, lol). Double gasp. When too, did they get up and leave? (We sit at the same row in lecture)

So i made a wish, blew the candles. Christine passed me the pressie. sobs, so touched. i dont know how long i hugged the box for.. i luuvvvv^^. And then steph told me "open the box! And scream very loud!"

I took a peek. CARD... BLACK... ZARA... COAT!!!!!!!! *squeals*
It was precisely THE COAT i spotted in Zara. And then i found out that they actually intended to get the white trenchcoat from Mango, but then the store they went to was out of XSsize. So, they went to Zara and tried to look for 'something similar' and landed with that (bought black instead cos white was dirty). What a wonderful coincidence. I was too too too tooooo touched.

I love the present, and the surprise so much! I can't believe I was really surprised.. i half expected sth, but i didn't too cos it was exam week. But this, was incredibly sweet. Touching. Melting. You GUYS are the BEST! =)=)

Mom treated us dinner at Castell (this steakhouse in PJ) the night before. My sisters both gave me an Umbra photo frame. It's that 3-layered one, one of those that i liked too! And then Nic had more presents for me hidden under a table haha! how sweet. We finally opened up Von's card(from NZ) and Yi&YinSan's pres (parcel fr aus).

Saturday (Nov 11), CNS exam was finally over! Had a tiny belated celebration at Renaissance KL. Invited some of my uni friends over for buffet at Temptations (played with the food and posed at the chocolate fountain more than i ate! >.<)and after that we crashed Se7enAteNine! It was a really cool place, except well, the sofa was comfortable but a lil warm. And I'm glad my JWBlack Label phobia was over (found at during subha's party) so i can finally drink it again. haha. ;D I had a great night tho i'm so sorry i couldn't invite more ppl. and i'm sorry if i neglected some during d party. Thanks so much for coming and i hope u guys enjoyed it as much as i did somehow!

To every single one of you who called or texted or gave me pres/card (even if it was belated- it's the thought that counts!) Thanks so so much!!! =) xxx

Erase and Rewind

It was early spring. But the air was cold- it felt like winter. We were walking towards the city centre. We took turns and sang 'Bad Day'-- me one line and u one line. You were holding my hand. It still makes me smile..

October 30, 2006

How I Spent My One Week Break

I was a little bit too ambitious. I aimed to 1)finish foundation2 revision. 2)start revising CNS. Of which i have achieved : 1)patho only. 2)well, started a few notes.. 3)alot of shopping!!

Started off my holiday with movie watching: Evie, LayIn, Woonlee & I went to watch RobBHood. We almost had a movie marathon (the prestige) but d guys were not free to watch a later movie, so we scraped off tat idea. and then lunch was at Chilis - Triple Play. Fajitas. Molten Choco Cake. *slurps* hehee.. and after tat we shopped for a while, evie and i.. drooling over all the nice winter coats. hahah!

Then the rest of the days were random shopping days. basically been to everywhere from lot10,sgwang,timesq to klcc to mv to 1u. yup, i'll come to the curve.

Last Friday, HauChun,Kenn,Eve,In&myself went to redbox. and after that, layin and i had this super nerd plan to study at starbucks. hahaa, but instead we sort of got distracted and deviated a little bit. Well, didn't read our notes (even tho we brought it), instead we read magazine. At least we still read something lar, keke.. and we sort of exchanged magazine wit hau chun at first, hahah.. but men's health doesn't seem to appeal to us, we decided we should just stick to our juicy fashion blingbling magazine which we could at least appreciate the pictures. Over our usual Mocha Latte.

Well, hamster left after starbucks. and then lay in came up with this random plan "wana go and check out if they have a 5something movie for the prestige?" u see, i missed the movie twice. once was because i had zero cash left. another was because of wrongtiming. and everyone's been telling us about how nice it is, how must-watch it is. um, well actually cos hauchun kept saying it la.. hahaha. So I said "SURE" and we headed to Cineleisure, went all the way up but to our disappointment the next showtime was 6.40pm.. so we kept asking each other "So do you want to watch?", walking rounds until we found ourselves at the maindoor yet still asking the same question. Haha, at this point we went back all the way up and bought the tickets. We ate at our usual place again- Sakae Sushi. Tried the green tea ice cream cake!! the icecream part was nice:P ..

The Prestige was a great movie. I love tacky intelligent movies like these, movies that make u think, movies with a twist. it makes u wonder and in the end you might never have guessed it was so. Or if u managed to guess bits and pieces, u suddenly feel smart :P hahah! No spoilers here, just go watch the movie, i totally enjoyed it!

After the movie we still had half an hour before the shop closes, so being us we went shopping... and found some really cool bargains for scarfs!!! So fast preparing for nex year ady.. kekeke..

Yesterday, shang invited alot of us to her house for a belated deepavali celebration. and it was fun seeing so many of them after a week break. We played Taboo and had a good good laugh. But i still must say last time when we played pictionary and charades in genting it was funnier. hahhah...

Ughh, i hate it when holidays come to an end. It means i'll have to drag my lazy arse back to the books. sobsob.. and this holiday ending officially marks my must start studying time. I dont know how jack made me succumb to the idea of kissing an iguana if I didnt do well for CNS. *goosebbumps* i dont think i can even hold it cos i think my reflex would be to fling tat green thing off my hand! haahhaa.. I guess it was still better than having to swallow a cockroach... but i shouldve chosen tat cos then at least he would have to take the trouble to catch a cockroach. lol. eeee.

PBL in two half hours time....

Priority

In yesterday's episode of The Gateaux Affair, Joe Ma told Myolie "Love is not the only thing there is to life. there's still career, friends. If you put career first, then relationships wont seem like such a big matter anymore.."

i guess it's true.

Down So Long

So many months has passed. Even more things have happened... both bitter and sweet. I dont even know where to begin or wat to say. but anyways, life still has to go on. So I'll just let the past lie.:)

I finally took time to update the links! And as it seems, my redbox craze has never ended. During selectives, me,kaisin and layin went redbox 3 times in a span of a week! With a lot more last minute karaoke sessions wit sis(s) or layin&kaisin. I also picked up darts and a CS-craze-which-didn't-last-too-long:P. Spent my semester break in Redang, too much to mention but truly was a blast! We celebrated post imucup cheerleaders outing with a swensen's + redbox combo. it was craziness, but fun!! all those late nights we spent practising and polishing our routines were paid off... we've won silver for cheerleading!! and m204 won overall imucup champion! but m204 was leading imu cup already before cheerleading anyway.:D

As for the past month, its been crazy cos there'd been so many birthdays! adrian, chunpeng, dad, woonlee, layin, wenhao, shirley, ernest.. yes, i realise a pattern here everytime i post something up. it's 1)holiday 2)more than a month apart 3)theres always so many birthdays and parties! :D

On a sadder note, grandpa passed away. All i knew was that i was in uni and i got a text from nic. i almost didnt believe wat i read. and all i could think about was the family dinner that i didn't make it to.. but it wasnt until later that night at the funeral when mom told me wat really happened that i really felt bad. But i'm really grateful for such supportive frens all around who stood by me, all the hugs and condolences, and christine for the prayer. thanks guys! love yall.<3

I have a new addiction towards hanging out at Borders.. just sitting at Starbucks, studying or browsing magazines. Sis used to love hanging out in borders when she was studyin in bristol. and i sort of caught up with the idea too... and i really missed Bristol, having been there twice-- and all the lovely memories including Borders. Oo, i just noticed of late they FINALLY brought Paperchase here!;D cherios.

And reason why i decided to come back with a post? I decided that i shouldnt just waste my medical student life unrecorded. haha... ive missed out writing about so many funny incidents that happened in uni & csu. i still remember one where ding was in my csu group. and dr.francis achike asked him where's the ASIS (anterior superior iliac spine) and he grabbed mr.skeleton's index finger, and pointed to the skeleton's ASIS! even dr.francis laughed :P Okay, i know it doesn't exactly sound funny, but if u were in the room and uve seen the 'innocent' look on ding's face as he did tat.. it was seriously funny. Then again, what's left to write? i'm already at my last system course and the only CSU left is MOCK OSCE .. which im so not prepared for!! >.<

June 10, 2006

life, oh life

I woke up at 6am this morning, went online (unfortunately no one was online at such hour) so desperately, i fumbled back to bed with a horrible growling stomach. it wasnt even easy getting back to sleep with an empty stomach but i forced myself to sleep cos for heaven's sake it is Saturday!

I have been routinely waking up at 5 or 6 am these days, sometimes even 2-3am... it's just that difference was, i'd sleep back straigtaway usually. i dont understand why i just can't sleep the whole night thru, maybe that's why ive never felt completely contented with my sleep these days.... :P

Rotations Again

After 2 months of holiday, and another four weeks of endocrine, i am again, on rotations.

Rotations are fun, because then u only have classes for two hours per day, minus the end-of-course exam every four to five weeks, minus PBLs! i have csu today and tmr, then labs, community medicine, KKB (again), and four days of GP posting. and one a few more days of holiday before i move on to Repro. five weeks of repro, then selective for four weeks. then it shd be summer hols by then..... not for me.

I still can't believe it, that i had actually been to UK for 2 weeks in March.. visited manchester, southampton, bristol. and that it's already been 4 weeks since i came back, sat for endocrine exam. and we were discussing the other day, about how much we are slacking, how we dont feel the pressure to study for this exam, because it seemed to be sandwiched in between two holidays. yea, rotations are like half a holiday. coming weekend i'll probably be going genting!:D then there are few more birthdays.. everyone's turning 21! time seems to fly.

and even tho when i look back now i say time flies, i still feel that the days pass ever so slow, but the weeks do fly by, somehow. and i missed. i missed the times.

Hospital Attachment

I was on a week's attachment at GHKL (KL general hospital) for a week together with evie, lay in, li yeen, shang, anu and wen hao. overall it was fun and we learnt alot. we were attached to the surgery unit, and was divided into two deparments : vascular, and breast&endocrine(B&E). Most of the staffs there were pretty friendly to us, it might be due to the fact that they're used to getting students running around anyway. Yup, so in B&E, we saw alot of breast exams and mastectomies. Tue and Thurs were clinic days, (thurs was more to endocrine) and we also observed thyroid exams, an inguinal hernia case plus rectal exam. While we were in the OT, we ran around theatre hopping as we like. some of the surgeons pretend as if they didnt see you at all but at least they didnt shoo us, but some were kind enough to explain what they were doing or why they were doing it. among the ops that ive seen include mastectomy, correction of an anal fistula, laproscopic cholecystectomy, and a colorectal cancer case where part of the descending colon was removed...

And the one thing that i'm gonna miss most abt that place? It's that blue carrier shaft thing, that subs the lifts (very slow, and always crowded). The best thing abt these shafts.. are that they are FOR STAFFS ONLY. Nyehehe.. and we could use it as we please, because we have the green pass!

The other vascular dept were gonna have a vascular clinic week nx week, and they asked them to help out.. so im gona go back on monday to help out! :D:D and gonna fly to uk to see someone i hvnt been seeing for 6 weeks now.....

Valentine's Day

This year's valentine's was... different. at least for once i was on holiday. anyways.. i spent it with emma and yvonne. Girls outing.. hey it's not just a day for lovers, after all.

We sort of did a 'house visitation' .. but a little over chinese new year. nevertheless, von's mom did give us angpow! we came back to my house in the evening before we went for dinner at 1u.. because i wanted to see the surpriseeeee waiting for me at home. mom called me up when i was in von's car on the way to emma's house. it was 12plus, and she told me, "come home quick! there's something for you!!" i was screaming on the phone too "waaattt'ss it!!!!! i waaaannn.. i wannnnaaa go homeee! hurhur.." mom said"come home and see for urself! it's big :O" and i had been thinking the whole afternoon abt the 'surprise'. and mom just wouldnt tell.

hahaa.. well, it was a lovely bouqet of roses from my dear!!;) anyway, back to us girlss. we went to 1u and ate at italiannies.. the food was not bad.. finally got to taste the famous stuffed mushrooms that i didn't the last time i went. yums. then afterwards we went to coffeebean and chatted awhile before we left. in a way, it's special. after all.. emma and von may not be available for me to celebrate with them next year ;)

January 30, 2006

Love. Angel. Music. Baby

In short, 2005 was just any other year, except this year i became a senior in imu, i had some wonderful achievements, yet it was filled with its ups and downs just like any others.
2005 started off quite well, as far as my memory could bring me back. i ushered in the new year in a totally different way this year. no more 'ive no plans' then finally heading down to BB anyway at 6pm. had a bbq party at von's house, drank red wine then drove home at almost 1. super early. My life in imu was finally picking up. i remember i moving into vista perhaps sometime december 2004. and me and my housemates, we bonded quite quickly. they were all super nice people. :) And can you believe it, that when 2005 began, i was still in Semester 1. But by the time it ended, I was finishing Semester 3. this is soo fast.

january.
i had my EOS(end-of-semester1) exams..and i passed!! Few days after exams ended, we had a house party at our vista apartment. it was very happening. we had great food, great people.. so many people actually turned up. and the place became so crowded, i almost got lost in my own apartment. but it was pretty cool. but by the end of the party, we were all dead tired. Still, we did our housemates' christmas present exchanging after all our guests left. (postponed due to stupid EOS). Then it was holiday!!! after that.. i guess i spent the rest of the mont shopping shopping and, more shopping!

february.
CNY came, and went. Nothing special happened, except my aunt and cousins from singapore actually came back this year.. they hadn't been back for cny for a good few years. I spent my valentines day alone, at home, watching 2 movies - 'Bridget Jones' Diary' and 'Raising Helen'.. and hoping next year it will be different that i wouldnt be stuck at home... hahah

march.
On holiday...cant remember when semester 2 commenced.. so i spent the holiday shopping. became a busybody at the new orientation.. (or was that end of feb?) anyways. about the only thing i could remember of this month, was that i went to genting highlands with a bunch of imu friends some few days before Semester 2 finally started. And don't laugh... but this is the first time i went to the genting theme park, after like, almost ten years?

april.
IMU BALL!! highlight of the month.. all the months we spent searching for a dress, all the weeks we spent attempting to go on a diet... for this one crazy night! Everyone was so handsome and pretty, everyone was dressed their best. And we took an awful lot of pictures!! We all felt like celebrities! At least i did. just imagine the number of cameras snapping pics at each single shot. We practically spent more than half the time taking pictures than we did eating. And the food wasn't filling at all. But who cares, rite? It's the moments we want to remember being captured in still more than the food we paid for. Haha. I had no date, unless u consider it that both lay in and i we sort of 'dated' each other. for fun. but like i say, it was fun. we got stopped by a police road block on the way back to vista. hahaha... they probably thought we went clubbing or sth.. even searched the car boot. and the funniest part of it all? hau chun was the only guy in that car... no wonder they wana stop us.

may.
A surprise visit from my uncle and his wife all the way from Boston, USA. My gawd, they just happen to come and ring the doorbell, without even calling. Without us even knowing that they came back. Yes. They just rang the bell. And when my mom opened the door she got stunned for a moment. Almost couldn't recognise her brother.. maybe? haha. Then we had a few family dinners...
Also had my first hospital visit. To Seremban hospital for Nursing Week. Taking blood pressures, temperature, pulse rates and respiratory rate, learn bed making. Basically it's a few days thing to get a taste of what the nurses job is like.
IMU life is still fun as it is.... with my bunch of happy-happy girlfrens. my lovelife is still nonexistent, while everyone around is getting attached one by one. thank god that lay in's bf is not in imu.. or i'd be left alone again.

june.
Finally started my first system course - cardiovascular system. We were still playing a fool... but system course is so much different. Not to mention our timetable was so horrible cos we got the 4.30-6.45pm lecture slot! I remember one of the funniest incidents that happened was a Friday when we decided to catch "Mr. and Mrs. Smith" in between PBL one morning and lecture in the evening. We ended up being late for ECG(electrocardiogram) lecture (supposed to be very important!) and blaming it all on bad traffic. CVS lasted four weeks.. so by early july, i had a tough exam to expect.........

july.
i love this month...
Yes, i sat for an exam, that i never felt worst about. it was HORRIBLE. could it be the fact that i didn't study enough? that my mind was too far away thinking about my family having fun in italy while i'm stranded, still struggling for a one-day paper? that my heart was beating too fast, excited over the fact that i'm flying to uk day right after my CVS exam? is it plainly that that paper itself was tough?fullstop? or.. it could be a mixture of all. i must admit my mind was straying. plus having to care about irene while studying... is not an easy task. luckily, i still managed to pass the exam.
UK!!!! Bristol, Bath and London. Yup, three places that i've been to when i was there. Went for my elder sis' graduation. Been to places... first time on a plane ride, alone. I slept in the coach from heathrow to bristol... this funny black guy with a guitar woke me up when we reached bristol... he even helped me took my luggagge out (it was soo heavy and deep inside and i was still half asleep k). both my sisters came out to meet me and took me back to rodney village.. where they were staying. i'll never forget my week spent there........ and i miss the place so much. tho the sky starts getting dark by 5 plus,, and sun rises too early.. that i kept waking up at 4am with the sky of 8am... tho i miss sitting in the car... tho it's so sunny there (seems worse than malaysia, perhaps cos i always stay indoors).. tho i get muscle aches from walking so much uphill and downhill.. i loooooooovvvvvveeeeeeeee the plaaaaaceeeeeeeeee.. i missssssssss it allllll. i die to go back to bristol again and walk around. london was fun too, and to think of the fact that i travelled the tube in between two weeks when the bombing attack occured. i felt so proud. i'm sitll keeping the ticket. hahah. but the air in london was quite unfresh. what can i expect? i remember the morning we reached london and reached the area where our B&B(bed&bfast) were, it smelt of garbage. ouchh. i ate nando's three times in one week that i was there.. i dont even eat nando three times in one year when i'm back here!
then one week after i came bac from uk, i went to kkb for hospital posting.. dreaded it at first, but by the time i got there... i was having so much fun playing mafia, the fact that i witnessed a gorgeous sunset. that i could see stars in the sky at night, that the air is so cooling and refreshing in the dead of the night. that's what makes this place so different from city life. The only thing i missed .. was my aircon! We had a weekend getaway... to Taiping (stayed over at lay in's house) and then to Penang the next morning (stayed at darren's apartment!). And the most exciting part was that it was a last minute decision, and we departed right after dinner on friday itself. darren's bday on sunday and we gave him a surprise cake... and celebrated it with kayu nasi kandar. haha..
i learnt alot from this kkb outing - of course talking to patients and history taking and physical exams and study-related aside, i learnt mafia, chor dai dee and 21 points! and i got closer to more people that i wouldn't have in imu alone. this includes darren, chern wuay .. and close, but even closer ..lay in, my roommate!
woaa.. i still have 5 more months to go..

august.
august was time for birthday parties and more parties. christine's 21st. and cindy's 20th party. time for shopping. spending money. and finishing up my electives.. i had labs and such. also went out a good few times with sarah, before she leaves back for russia.
end of august officially marks me a semester 3 student.. 2nd year medical student! *poses*. haha.. respiratory system started. and it was ultimate joy cos darren, lay in and i were in the same pbl group! haha.. together with waimeng, aaron,my pbl grp has all the fun fun people!:D

september.
M205 orientation! I was vice sec. Being in the committee made it alot funner cos people have to come hunting you and begging you to give them signatures, and you're allowed to ask them to get things done for just you. But i decided to be the nice girl.. i had juniors singing songs dedicated to me all the way from 3rd floor, and sometimes i even gave my signature away for free... i just asked of them to remember my name during treasure hunt. It was all good. and after bbq night ended on saturday, we even went to mamak with some juniors ... and crapped all the way, exchanging lame jokes!
Went out with highschool mates, VIKKI CAME BACK and went out with her too... After ice breaker's day we went out and ate crab at SS2. had cheerleading practices.. numerous. celebrated dad's bday by eating at korean fusion (starhill). korean bbq.. yummy, but costly. went to zouk for the first time, but wasn't for clubbing..
Towards end of september, i got closer to ze. i have not thought about him for 9 months already. so tell me why is it all coming back. and it so isn't right? when he says he misses me i took it the friendly way. when i ever said i miss him last time, he tells me he doesnt miss me. haha, and he's finally said he miss me? and why did it mattered when i didn't reply his smses. i just shouldnt think so much....

october
Cheerleading competition, marking the end of IMU Cup! I told ze i was scared! But by being scared, i meant i was afraid i'd do something wrong.. or forget some steps. haha. or perhaps more of scared because i was amazingly calm.We ended up getting 3rd place for cheerleading... and m204(my batch) being the overall champion! That night i screamed and cheered so much .. and by the end of the closing ceremony, almost the whole cheerleading team plus a few others we went mamak. actually it was a bigger group but some went to other mamaks. and we joined so many tables in one row that we ended up talking in small groups, anyway. it always happen.
I got my first bday card of the year on oct28! haha.. one week early.. and it was from boonshing, my alevel classmate.

november
I had fun on my 20th birthday!! I got numerous messages and calls. not to mention quite alot of cards too! thanks people.. u know who u are:) quarter to 12, ze already called, he said he wanna book the line. haha.. emma called at 12, but i called her back later on cos i was still on the line. some even quite unexpected, like that call from ron, There were 6 of us- me,nic, king, emma, yokesin, and kelv. We watched 'Just Like Heaven' at 1u, then dinner at Mange-Tout and finally after dinner went to Luna Bar. It was very grand and i enjoyed the company, but i was missing someone. it was very fun, except the part where i puked... 5 times! i never wana drink black label again.. ptui ptui. Ended up sleeping around 3+ or 4. then the next morning forced myself up at 7... and went to uni because i had PBL early morning and it was PBL2 .. so had a presentation. i still felt so nauseous.. and managed to catch a little sleep in the library after that! With the puffiness in my eye and all... lay in brought me down to food ave, and my uni frens all surprised me with a cake... and FLOWERS!!! They were all so sweet ... i was lost for words and i could feel my face going red. haha... i was really really touched.

december.
finally end of the year.
GI exam sucked even worse than CVS. I came out feeling like i really totally flunked the exam. Not to mention that my mood was fluctuating worse than tidal wave towards end of november. perhaps it's just me thinking too much. Not that december was any better. December was a month of storm.
We had a girls outing to celebrate Post GI. Again, we failed to watch a movie. But we ended up taking pics and had girls talk at Coffee Bean.. my favourite hangout i missed so much. But end of GI only meant partial freedom.. next comes the ultimate .. EOS3!( end-of-semester3 examination) the BIG ONE. Yes, And only one month break. one pathetic month... I allowed myself a weekend off.
He was gona come back... but didnt wana tell me when exactly. so i was anticipating... anticipating...
but i had to spend christmas weekend away.. in penang when he finally came back. i studied in the hotel... overlooking the sea. it was breathtaking... and it was the part i loved most about the trip. i missed him though. but my mind was so messed up. i wonder how i ever pulled through studying in such a state of mind. i seriously congratulate myself... the way im putting this is a much simplified version of all the whirl of thoughts and emotions i had went through.
On 31st, i ended up in BB. after a break from last year. Met up with adrian, jen, wenjie and rest.. walked around abit with them.. and dined with them in swensen's. But i left early... didn't wait for the countdown. There was something about my mood. and the transport i had to go with. i wanted to go back home to study, and at the same time, i didn't want to go back home. i wanted to go somewhere quiet.. but where? it's 31st, for heaven's sake.. and i have no car to drive home.
The most beautiful thing i remembered about the last day of the new year? Was standing outside Soda, then it struck 12, and they were putting fireworks just from the street in front. So all the fireworks came down as though falling right down onto me.. second time standing right beneath fireworks. Just this time i was much much longer... and more beautiful.. felt just like heaven :) If 31st doesn't end until i go back home to sleep, then it had been wonderful too. at last when i finally got to see him. i finally found a smile.

Phew! What a year! 2006 at last!!!
January06
Jan took on a much better turn. Although the first two days were horrible. As i said, it's truly a miracle that i managed to scramble through my finals and come out of it unscathed! i partied so much, shopped every few days, watched more movies than i did in half a year, went clubbing twice all in the one month before my finals, i felt so proud of myself....... and thanks so much dear for standing by.. <3. i hope this year will be a happy year!
Jan is a month for even more birthdays and birthday parties. kelv, reika, liyeen, yuinhun, evie and anu's birthday. fun tho, kelv's bday with redbox+sushi+poppy. reika's at her mansion! li's.. i was too busy to celebrate, sorry girl. yuinhun's at her hse and meeting up highschool mates. and evie's at greenlotus+lunabar! plus catching up with all the frens i didn't meet during my whole one month. haha... i'm so poor this month. but thank god for cny!
the only resolution i made this year had already been fulfilled .. which was to ... do well in my EOS! i did it. ;D

Random Thought

Some people they just love to walk into your life, turn your world upside down, make you smile then make you cry. take your heart away then leave it on the line. how did they do that?
