Happening Manchester

Manchester is happening ;D where i am right now, is not so. >.<

3.5 weeks here so far... and for the past 2 weekends since i've moved over to this kampung, i've been going back to manchester. like i said, it's more happening there. And for the past 3 weekends, we've been having dimsum at TaiWu. It's halfpriced dimsum for weekends, really really nice:D

I haven't really got a chance to miss chinese food yet because we've been getting doses of it in manchester. But i do miss mommy's soups :) mom hasn't exactly been cooking alot lately and i have been away either traveling or eating out too the past few weeks before i left. and i actually tried so hard to complete my list of 'To-Eat' that, i was practically forcing myself to eat 2 buffets in 2 consecutive day... i didn't get to thoroughly enjoy jogoya :( rakuzen was bad experience too because they were so busy that our orders take so long to arrive. sad. when i go back next year must go Jogoya again!

The seniors in Manchester are really nice.. and happening ppl. Last weekend, we went to Rileys, and i Finally got to play darts again!!!!!! brings back all the good memories of sem4 times when we play darts every single minute we could squeeze. in between csu and pbl. in between pbl and lectures haha. on results day we even had a 'final championship', we actually woke up EARLY just to play darts :)

Oh, back to the original topic... two weeks ago we had the biggest dinner at tai wu (for me so far). i think we had about 4 or 5 tables. and all the manchester seniors even those from preston, and even those who are working in manchester came. and even some from other places.. and i'm glad i persuaded shirlyn to come. hehe... ;)

this was how my first saturdaynight at manchester was spent.

This week alone, i've been back to manchester twice. during the weekdays. haha, i wanted to settle my student ID and stuffs on wednesday but i end up shopping. hehe. Classes end early on Wednesdays.. so we had time to go down.

This weekend tho, evie will be coming up :) Well, Preston isn't exactly unhappening, we got BBQ party this saturday nite;D.. it's just not so. ;D

Good Times

Isn't It Strange How We All Get A Little Bit Weird Sometimes

3 days more before I fly.

How come I don't feel anything at all?

Got my flight ticket, visa, medical checkup done. my hair cut. my contact lens supply. i've been spending these few weeks eating wat i think i might miss eating. meeting up with ppl whom i might not see for another year. going around just to buy stuffs i need to bring over. wat's not so settled is my accomodation, but with fingers crossed, i hope everything turns out well. My luggage? haha, i got most of my things in it. except 40% of clothes, some coats, a few pairs of shoes, and alot of other stuffs piling next to it. Maybe I should rephrase, I got most of my things ON top of my luggage. I've got a problem with packing. And I'm lazy to pack the other 40% of clothes in to it. because, my luggage is about full... which means.. i have to repack.

Exploring Hong Kong

It was back in March when Shirlyn and I were still working at TTMC and we decided to check out the MATTA Fair Friday after work. There weren't much time for us to think, I was busy for the next 2 days and anyway who wants to go twice? So, we booked our 4D3N Free&Easy trip to Hong Kong.

Day 1 (AUG 3).
After checking in, we briefly discussed our plans and decided we shall just go nearby our hotel today. We bought our Octopus cards from the nearest MTR (Yau Ma Tei) station. first day, we traveled the area in kowloon peninsula,

Mong kok. Near Ladies Street... beautifully lighted and happening at nite..

Day 2 (AUG 4).
We went to Tsim Sha Tsui for breakfast dimsum @ Silvercord. Then went to Central.

I'm on the longest escalator in the world! (MidLevels Escalator).
We stopped by SoHo (food place). Then we walked to ManMo temple...
and to Wellington St. Waited almost half an hour for this dish of 'siu ngo bei' to arrive. Yung Kee Restaurant, famous for their roasted goose.

and then we took the peak tram up to the Peak... where I got to take a pic wit Leo Ku! =P a wax one, tat is.

After tat we went back over to Avenue of Stars, and watched the fireworks display. Yes, ALL in A DAY. ;D

The best night shot of Hong Kong Central from Kowloon wit my little sony.

Andy Lau's handprints... in ave. of stars.
Day 3 (AUG 5).
SHOPPING day! We went to Causeway Bay, Wan Chai(to visit the 'Crabtree & Evelyn: The Tearoom'), and then Central!

Lan Kwai Fong. It was still pretty early... so abit, empty.
Went there after eating wanton at Mak's Noodle, Wellington Street.

Day 4 (AUG 6).
We woke up extremely early, JUST to make the most out of our 4 day trip, so we spent one hour traveling ... took an MTR to Kowloon Tong, interchange to the KCR. Then another bus to reach this pretty secluded place..

The Lam Tsuen Wishing Tree.....
Of course since we came this far, we did make our wishes. But because this poor tree is on rehab (2 major branches fell in 2005 hence no more throwing wishpapers onto tree, sad.)

We still got back in time for a hearty dimsum&yumcha at Maxim's Palace before goin to airport about 12noon. 2 times of dimsum in this 4 day trip, Shirlyn's wish came true. hahah, plus, we did tryout and went to all the places that Evelyn recommended! I'm so proud ;D However, I came back home with my gastrocnemius musclespain!!

Land of Koalas and Kangaroos

Well, where do i start?
Australia was awesome. I spent 2.5 weeks visiting 4 places, Perth, Melbourne, Sydney and Adelaide, touring with Shirlyn, my twin sis nicole joined in melb and syd, and met up with so so many friends. :)

Perth was the first and last stop. 3 days was short, but we managed to see the swan bell tower, the city skyline from kings park, the coastal area from city beach (where we stayed) til hillary's harbour, ate steak at sizzler, tried authentic vietnamese food of broken rice and viet ricepaper spring roll salad at this little vietnamese village, shopped a full day at hay st and murray st, visited the casino, the lake, and tried Donut King's original donut.

Melbourne was next in itinerary. I wonder if my particular favour for this city was due to the fact that we stayed within walking distance to city, or the fact that i met so so many ppl, from high school friends to and old chatfriend, jot, or the fact that i ate so much here-(max brenner, freddo, greco, kokoblack, brunetti, viet.list goes on), or it is because we had spent almost a week here. But one thing's for sure I have Ai-Ming, my friend since primary school and her sis Ai-Lynn to thank for their superb hospitality and being our unofficial tour guide, providing us with lots of maps, info, recommendations, cooking for us in the middle of the night. etc etc. And i made a few new friends as well, shirlyn's niece Brenda and her college fren, Jocelyn. We went on a day trip to Yarra Valley-Fergusson's Winery and Healesville Sanctuary(animal reservatory) and had a fun choo-choo-train ride sitting wit my legs dangling from the window sill. It was really enjoyable! Then we also went to St. Kilda on Sunday morning, caught a tram to Sydney st's Green Cafe(very cosy), walked along Docklands at night, had a mini BBGS gathering, catching up with so many of my old mates, 2 of which had been studyin here since secondary3. most of which i haven't met since high school was over. Especially my dear ol cute fren sooky. :D and yeefei! tho i used to meet her every chinese new year. I miss all the good food and all the chocolate (sinful sinful!), freddo's roche icecream, Greco's tiramisu and hazelnut meringue.

We took an overnight train ride to Sydney. It was horrible, thanks to this lady behind who refused to sleep even at 3am her bright reading light was on, and this man chating aloud standing right besidebehind me, coughing at my direction every now and then. That I could only fall asleep with my coat covering my face! Lina and my old fren, JenHau took us around in Sydney. Lina came and spent the entire day with us altho she had to prepare for a presentation! We had breakfast at Pancakes on The Rock on the first day, took a ferry from CircularQuay over to Watsons Bay, watched sunset at darling harbour. Sydney is either really famous for jap food or jenhau really likes jap food. I remember him pointing to so many shops and saying that it's not bad, most all were jap. We tried 2 shops- Takeru and Takemi. ;D Both were super nice! Had dimsum at Zilver, hav to admit this one was better than melb's(shark fins house) altho the service here wasnt as good. Siumai at Zilver is hugee. Shopping wise, we found much more cheap stuffs in Sydney.;D We took pics inside QVB(queen victoria building) and also at hyde park (it was a great day for picnic). We took a rather quick stroll at Kings Cross at night cos we didn't feel too comfy wit the atmosphere and crowd there, partly due to the preformed idea we hv abt this place i suppose. We had seafood platter and lobster at Sydney's Fish Market... was really fresh, mustgo for all seafood lovers. We strolled Bondi Junction a short while and went to Bondi Beach at dusk. I have never seen such huge waves rushing to shore, it was really beautiful. We had dinner at Hurricane. Ate lamb ribs and pork ribs .. lambribs was reallllllyyyy yummy!!! (say, d porkribs tasted like char siew to me. altho the rest disagreed. they prob didnt want to feel d heartache of eating expensive western charsiew). We chilledout at Ravesi's after dinner, more like trying to warm ourselves on a cold night, where i got to try Corona Extra and the famous Tooheys. 3 days to finish up sydney wasn't really enough.... we managed to cover pretty much everything we wanted to visit, though a little rush.

Adelaide was a good change from the previous 2 busy cities. I wouldn't say it's boring though. It's more peaceful and quiet and slow in general. But with 6 of them Villagers there, the house is always full of fun and laughter. plus d lucky fact that chunpeng and wenhao was there as well, made our stay in adelaide extra extra fun! We tried MarsBar Muffin and freshly made yoghurt at Central Market! Fun to take that long busride to Hahndorf, a german village, and ate a hearty german sausage meal although we got caught in a heavy rain (at least we had umbrellas!) Fun to take the tramride to Glenelg and had a fish&chips picnic (not so much fun tho cos it was freakin cold), jumping around on the beach for a perfect flying shot, and drinking Boost and eating ice cream although i was freezing. Fun to cook dinner wit d girls! Fun to have a steamboat dinner , altho with a slight mishap midway. It was all ultimate funfunfun. And Chunpeng brought us to visit the Cleland Wildlife Park, where i finally got to touch koalas and feed kangaroos and wallabies! They were so violent when i refused to feed him, he bit a mouthful of my piece of map! grr. Ah, we also kangaroos sunbathing and scratching armpit and one who scratched his balls. lol!

There's so much more to write than wat i have posted up here, but i'll probably bore every1 with every little detail. Have to say it was such a memorable enjoyable beautiful holiday. And perhaps meeting up with so many people that i may not be seeing for the next few years or so. Makes the trip much more worthwhile. :D

With less than four weeks now to leaving for UK. I'm beginning to get that mixed feelings, thinking abt all the places and food i want to go/eat before i leave. realising how much i'll miss my family, friends and also my dear doggie. i'm still excited about going to manchester, but i hesitate to pack, as if it'll help alleviate my yet-to-come-homesickness, as if it'll make me feel like i have more time to spend here, and make me feel less guilty about traveling ever so often although i'll be leaving home, for the first time longer than a month. There's so little time, so much to do..

Yet, I'll be goin to hongkong over the weekend!:D

Week In, Week Out

Last Friday, to 'celebrate' my liberty off my temporary job (I'm FINALLY FREE again! no more mundane 8-6! but im gonna miss it sumhow), we watched Fantastic Four:Silver Surfer at KLCC. And then we had late dinner at Jalan Alor.. the yummy yummy chicken wing!:D

On Saturday, I got up early and had BakKutTeh for breafkast at Klang, with Hau Chun as our klang-guide. ;p Then it was movie(Oceans 13)+ meet up with d rest of the *INs. After movie, we did our routine Zara-Mango walk, until we realise we didn't have much time left, so we headed for Coffee Bean to sit down and chat. My gosh, it's been so, so, so lonng. And finally all 5 of us are gathered there.. and time certainly flew when you're having fun. It was like time for exchanging souvenirs (receiving for me;p).

Sunday.... FATHERS DAY! I bought daddy a HUGO:Selection. Daddy loved it! Yay. :D We had dinner eating at a seafood restaurant which served delicious claypot crab rice, and chinese chicken herb soup in a trad chinese soupjar. yum.

And then for the rest of the week, i went to sing Karaoke twice, once with nic and another with chuen&jay. Met up for lunch at Vietnam Kitchen (ah, delicious beef noodles!) The timing couldn't be more perfect.. Seremban ppl had a week break, Aus ppl are back for winter break, and i dun hv to go to work!

Thursday (yesterday) was the ultimate MakanClub Day out! We got up early just to rush to MANGO for their first day of sales. And in 2.5 hours, we successfully managed to cover all 3 MNGs in the vicinity (KLP, Lot10 & Times Sq) with Li successfully bagged sth from all 3. Then WenHao picked us up, lunch was at Jln Alor, at this old coffeeshop which serves delicious fishball noodle, loh-mee and pan mee! Because it was so hot, we quickly ate and left... We ended up reading magazines and travel books and chatting, at my favvy bookstore, BORDERS. But only because they somehow do not screen Surfs Up there. When Chuen & SuetMay arrived, me & li had to go back for dinner. A few of them had mongolian steamboat which looked really really delicious. And afterwards, we met up for a mamak session at Devi's Corner! It was certainly one of d most tiring, but fun day. How often do we all get to be seated together and hv such good laughs?

Blink. And it's Friday again! I had breakfast with Nic and mom at Paddington House of Pancakes! at Hartamas SC. :D It's so rare tat we get to sit down to chat and hv breakfast together these days. yumm.. This breakfast set (comes with tea) only cost RM2.50. A must try!;D

Graduation (as we go on we remember..)

Phase1 is officially over.. I've officially graduated from IMU!
(Collage too tiny to fit everyone in it. sry)

When i was young, i couldn't wait to grow up faster. My ambition was to be a teacher. I'd scribble on the whiteboard and my students were the stuffedtoys. I'd give them homeworks which were never to be completed. I'd pretend they were naughty, I'd scold them. I'd mark books made of old diaries, and give double stars like mommy would if i got everything correct. Looking back, it was hilarious. And just how far i've come (and deviated from my original idea) still surprises me sometimes :)

I'm halfway there to the big grad... been thru numerous exams, big and small. met so many great people, made so many friends, created so much more lovely memories. I've finally made it thru 2 and a half years. A good 2&1/2 years. However that said, I still have 3 more years to strive.. in University of Manchester!:D And i know, even after the big graduation, it will only be the beginning of my journey.. I'll be an "amoeba" (as that surgeon in TDMC(tmn desa) had told me before I even entered IMU.)

Halfway There!

My supervisor/pharmacist, Leonie and I were so worried because Mr. Rama the other phamarcist left. Then it'll be just the two of us for God-knows-how-long. They desperately needed to hire a new dispenser. and a permanent pharmacist. Two of us ain't gonna last long with the workload we are handling. Last week i had worked with only one pharmacist at each given day. I was half dying by thursday. But thankfully, Friday was a peaceful day.

Those schoolkids are hving a good two weeks off. This was a blessing because most of our patient load are office workers, the tourists come in second and families (of the panels) usually during saturdays. The timing couldn't have been better, as it was school holiday, not only was the traffic smoother, our patientload has surprisingly decreased as well. It was a laidback week so far. Had a few 'prescription-storms' here and there. Not as often as we used to.. was a good thing.

I've been receiving alot of of
"so you're doing ur intern/training/posting here?". (to which i'd reply "yea well," ,too tired of explaining).
"studying pharmacy?" (smiles, thinks, "i'm studying medicine actually")
Observes changes on their face. Some politely just says "oh!:D"

I had the chance to talk with Dr. Lua a few days ago, an Occupational Health Physician. He said his son was in IMU, almost finishing second year of work in Dundee. When he knew i was studying medicine, he asked me what am i doing at the pharmacy, shouldn't i be following doctors around instead?

And today, with Dr. Koh, an ENT specialist. He was asking me about what kind of antihistamine nasal sprays and original antihistamine tables we have in stock. Then he got to know i'm in IMU. Apparently he used to be a lecturer in Sban GH, he said he even set-up the ENT team in IMU clinical school, and some of the questions from the bank were his! :) He was telling me about the 'those days' stories, and how IMU Seremban Clinicals came about. He mentioned names of lecturers that i've never heard of. Haha.

Last Saturday was IMU Graduation. Congrats to all in the deans list, gold medalist our very own hammy ;D, and of course all the rest for making it past phase1, we're halfway there! Glad to be in M204, a batch that created history time and again. After our IMU Cup victory, we created history by hving 74 in dean's list (usually 7-15 as prof victor had said). i'll post up some pics when i got time over d weekend.

Working makes me tired even if i was just sitting there whole day. I still have half a month to go!

Banana Pancakes .. we could pretend it all the time

It has a cute, catchy tune. Jack Johnson makes me feel like i do deserve a good weeekend in, doin nothing but just lazing in bed, forget the world outside. And that's exactly wat i did.

I had it all set, i needed my booster dose of Borders and Starbucks. desperately. and then i reached home after a half-day work on Saturday; i was homealone the whole afternoon.. my eyes getting heavier staring at my notebook screen. And then it started to rain outside.. ah, the perfect weather. to sleep. i fought my withdrawal symptoms, telling myself i can put it off til tomorrow. i've got the whole day sunday.

And yet, came Sunday, i woke up and went to town for a delicious curry laksa breakfast with mom and dad. oh, i will so miss all these moments when i go to uk. and then we got home, with a full tummy and a whole week's worth of sleep to catch....

nope. i didnt sleep ;D i simply wasted the day away. i still didn't end up goin to Borders. I sulked abit, but it's just normal to hv withdrawal symptoms when it doesn't work. yet again. put it off yet another week. i'm used to doing it. Now no matter waht happens, next sunday i shall be there.

Graduation's on Saturday. Friday's rehearsal and i had to go off work at 2pm. I feel so proud of myself. I'm finally graduating!!:D But i know i'm only halfway there..

Talking abt pancakes, I miss the pancakes in Double Dutch, Bristol. Sighh.

It was under refurbishment not long after i ate there. It was still when i tried my luck again early last year. I wonder if it's done yet.

You hardly even notice when i try to show u this, song is meant to keep ya from doing what u're s'posed to, like waking up too early, maybe we can sleep in pretend like it's the weekend now... we could pretend it all the time. ;D

Can't you see that it's just raining, there ain't no need to go outside.

I'm Alive!

Ever since i started working, i started to realise how much more precious weekends have become. And how much more extra precious public holidays are. especially when u work 5-and-a-half-days a week. my legs are constantly tired. dad laughed at me when i complained how tired i am even after a day's work. he says he's been doing that for the past few decades!
So i make it up for my lost days by dropping in at Borders at least once a month. I finally stepped into Midvalley in April, i think it's been more than 2 months since i last did. (the last was when we watched curse of the golden flower, serious!) i felt so much more human after that. and i missed 1U as well.

During the previous PC Fair i've gotten myself a new vaio!! and an external HDD. woohoo! soo soo happy!
And from work, i've gotten myself an autographed photo with Tun M & his wife! ;)
Sunday went out with Eve,Li,Shirlyn(LayIn),SuetMay&Shang..we ate at Delicious Cafe! yum... we had so so much to catch up. after tat, the rest had to leave early, so eve and i walked ard til late evening.

Well, yesterday and today was public holiday (which meant double yay!) But happy times really flies! So yesterday me and nic and emma met up with Vikki for lunch. Vikki's my ALvls classmate who's currently studying in Penang Medical College and she's back for the long stretch of hols. We ate at Italiannies and surprised her with a candle on top of the tiramisu that we ordered, and had the italiannies team sang her a bday cheer for! (we celebrated her bday early cos she's gonna be in penang and us in kl on d real day) haha ;D Vikki left around 3half, cos she had to meet up with her cousins and all. we continued walking around. trying out dresses and such. We finally left at 5plus.
nicemmavikkime!!
The "Drink Lots of Water" Advertisement! :P

At night i went to SKYBar! Li came over to my house and we went to skybar together, jay, joey & eve were already there. We had fun listening to d latest gossips and exchanging stories..

SKYBAR

I wudnt get up until 11am today, cos these days i hardly hv time to sleep til so late. Then mom said we're goin to a family friend's house for Chicken Rice lunch, apparently, at noon. So i quickly got ready and left. luckily tho their house's js like, 5 minutes away. They had different kinds of chicken (kampung chicken and non etc.) but which to me are, 'just chicken'.:P We ate til we were so so full.. but the chilli was really delicious! Then Clifford suggested to play Monopoly so four of us ended up playing.. it was fun at first, haha, but later on i was hoping to be 'in jail' more stepping into other's lands were even scarier. I was glad when the game has to end tho, i was like losing my properties one by one anyway. ;( better luck nex time! I didn't realise we played til so late it was already 4 by the time we were back home. Just a short rest, and had dinner with my grandmother and granduncle&aunt.

It's a Tuesday which felt very much like a Sunday. Except better, cos tmr will be Weds (and not MOnday) so the week is shorter by far.

1.5 more months!! And i'll be on full holiday mode!~ Can't wait for them fr oz to be bac for winter! I can't wait for Aus and HK trip!!! And hopefully Penang! And Ipoh/Taiping makan trip!! wooo.... and then August will come to an end and i'll be flying off to UK. I'm still excited at the moment. But, for how long more before i get those mixed feelings they always talk abt? :D

Isnt it Strange how we all get alittle bit weird sometimes

working has been crazy. fun, but absolutely energy-draining. imagine waking up everyday at 6.30a.m. and then working from 9-6. or 8.30-5.30, depends. i'm currently working at the pharmacy dept of the twin towers med centre.. good learning experience. i begin to familiarise myself with vaccines , malarial prophylaxis and certain drugs, finding myself being able to pick up slightly more speed by the end of one month. u can never imagine how lost i felt during my first day of work.

Ok here (at long last) goes, i've been tagged twice (so many weeks back), by both sakthi & christine ;D
Each player of this game starts off by giving 6 weird things about themselves. People who get tagged need to write in a blog of their own 6 weird things as
well as state the rules clearly. In the end, you need to choose 6 people to be tagged and list their names. After you do that, leave them each a comment
letting them know you tagged them and to read your blog.
6 weird things about myself..
1. i love collecting random stuffs. it all started with a normal stamp collecting hobby (that by now has faded off) and replaced with keychains, postcards,
wrappers, (nonmechanical) pencils, foreign currencies, old/new coins, cards, apparel tags, teddies, boxes, and when i was younger cute erasers as well!

2. i love to take pic of cute/nice inanimated stuffs. eg. a cup of almost empty milo making a smileyface, armadillo-shaped clouds in the skies, signboards/funny ads on the streets, microscopic view of a endometrial with a reindeer shaped gland (inside MMS:P), or a heart shaped button mushroom. but all these are very amateur attempts.

3. when i'm upset i gulp down plenty of water ... at least its non alcoholic so it doesnt cost my liver, and i most prob'd hv stopped b4 i die of water intox.

4. i sometimes say things out of the blue (of cos it was already running in my mind before i blurted it), not remembering to explain wat i was talking about beforehand, assuming ppl can read minds. esp when it was in the middle of another conversation it can sound totally weird. but its not entirely my fault... i prob inherited this fr my mom.:P

5. i cant stand staying at home for too long (eg. 2 whole days) i'd diee screaming of boredom. but then i'd go out and realised i miss home not too long after. wahahaaaa.. (p/s: this doesnt really apply during sales )

6. i cant think of nething really weird anymore. dey say girls r supposed to dig chocs .. but i dont go crazy over. but i love ice-creams alot, :D so maybe dat sort of covers my lack of choc crave. however, darren, i still very much, def WAN my kokoblack when i go melb :D *weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee*
okla tats it... of course, maybe u'll find even weirder things abt me i fail to mention here, then tat's js lucky u ;D

6 people i'll tag..
i'm very lazey to search ppl who hasnt been tagged to tag.. its very mafan cos so many has been tagged so i tag those who's been tagged but has not responded, yet. haha, aiyo this part is even tougher than d above part.

1. hamster .. hauchun
2. evie ( uve been tagged but still hvnt written out urs!! )
3. james ong
4. yvonne woon
5. derrick-shing
6. li yeen
tag, u're iT!

Love each other or perish

Right after finals was over, we celebrated in Marche and Laundry bar. I gave myself excuse to play until results came out. Then it was Li's birthday surprise. Traveling to KLIA two days in a row and sending friends off. Catching up with friends - from kindergarten to highschool to college and uni mates. Shopping shopping!! Singapore trip was a blast. More Makanclub outings - bakkutteh and cookout at suetmay's! I hadn't stopped..

This year it was different. I moved on without reiterrating about last year as i have done the years before. I didn't took the time to, even after my finals. Or after the results were released.

Perhaps i didn't want to.

I blamed it on being busy, i have been going out everyday. I wake up to a new day and i'm rushing through it. Life's been a roller coaster ride ever since exam ended. Everyday i had something to do, somewhere to go. Perhaps I didn't want to slow down. Perhaps being bored meant I'll be wasting every minute of my precious time left before I start my clinical years. But every now and then I wished I could slow down, watch the sunset, take in the breeze (maybe endup coughing a little), play with my darling dog, read a book.

Which was what I finally did!! I picked up a book yesterday, one that i've bought few days ago after months of making a promise to myself to read this book after finals. TUESDAYS WITH MORRIE. Maybe it was just me being my emotional self. I am always amazed at how people facing death face it so calmly. So positive. So accepting. So strong. They make me sad. (I remembered reading a story abt this man with lower motor neurone disease in Readers Digest and sobbing at a restaurant. They must've thought this girl is crazy!) I tried putting myself in their shoes and wonder if I could ever stay so positive about it if it were me. I still get amazed. Tears streamed down my cheeks, and i was only at the second chapter.

I finished my book this morning. I would've finished it yesterday had i not been out, catching up with an old primary schoolmate.

The other day, we surprised nana by paying her a visit at her house before she left for Auckland. As we left, it was slowly sinking in, the fact that all your dear friends are leaving one by one, little by little. We're gona be continents apart. Those people we used to meet everyday in uni. laughed at lame jokes or not so lame ones. gossiped abt the same lecturers. screamed over darts and CS. (Oh which btw we played out last CS battle with the Melbers after Monday Cookout!)

Still my life is on a rush. I'm gonna start work on Friday. Me and LayIn just happened to walked into the twin towers med centre, asked if there were vacancies and minutes later were showed into the GM's office. And after a brief interview, we got hired! The GM was really nice, I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the workcourse will be fine too ;) Wish us luck!

Well I'll start to take time to play with my doggie a while, time just to sit there and stare into the wall like i've always wanted when exams are around the corner.

But til then, today it's Anu's birthday lunch. Tomorrow, the Melbers will be flying off. Day after tmr, I'll officially be a working lady. Saturday, Kar Farn's 21st. The list doesn't end... yet I'm still enjoying this craziness when i'm not done absorbing the one that just passed..

Exam, Shopping and Friday Night

so we had health issues exam. and took pics after tat. after this wld be study break, oh well.

and then as usual we went shopping. this time it was just lay in, liyeen and i.. cos d rest were all busy. and an even more usual phenomenon was meeting more batchmates in mv itself, and have frequent stops hello-ing. We ate at 'Oh! Sushi' and a funny thing was when d server wanted to take our drink order, all of us paused for a bit and said at the exact same time, same pace, same tone: "green tea?". her reaction was the funniest part. stunned. seriously. lol.

and we were passing by Mango when we looked in and saw a pretty gurl, and i tot, hm that looks alot like.. "Evelyn??" at this point she looked up because we said it aloud. lol. so eve joined us for a while. yay;) but christine is still missing.

We then rushed bac to IMU for Friday Night. (Yepo, that annual Friday Night event.. with all the performances and stuff). Or not so much of a rush cos to start wit we left at 7half, half an hour after it was scheduled to start. not to mention the traffic wasnt on our side either. lol. but at least we reached right before INFERNAL AFFAIRS sang. haha. weee. stan, honglim and kent were in the band. it was good arite. and daph danced! she was fabulous! the best part of the event was, this year they even had LECTURERS performing.

So u never KNEW FIA could sing(and dedicated it to his wife)! JPJ could play acoustic guitar to many songs incl 'that thing u do' and sang 'Lunchtime Cowboy' and 'Sleeping Child'(with lyrics modified to imu-based:P) Dr. SRI was on the DRUMS! smashing... and Dr RAJESH dueted with his wife Dr SHARMA. Dr. THANI, dr rajesh and dr sri did a sketch called B.U.M.S (b? university of medical sciences) abt this prospective student on an interview, and then to osce exam and viva! we had such a good laugh, dey were great yet seemed so much lk themselves when they gave lecture. i didnt stay long enuf to watch steph duet with jpj. or the catwalk which must be really cool.

if u thought medical students were a bunch of geeks. u were wrong. even ur lecturers rock. i've always said if IMU werent a medical school, it'd be a school of performing arts. :P

and, i'd be lying if i said i'll never miss IMU.

21st Birthday

That day was a Monday. It was the week of CNS exam so i expected everyone to be busy studying. Everyone usually turn to nerds in the week of exam! No more makan outings. No more shopping. for that one week. So i wasn't expecting much when i went for lecture as usual that day. yes, and watched a movie with the whole of M204! ('movie' on Epilepsy! insightful tho.)

I was overwhelmed. I received quite some wishes and hugs the moment i entered LT3. Well the lecturer came in slightly late, but i was too busy talking to notice that or when li went down and took the mic. Until of course when she started speaking. Then, the batch sang me a song.. I could feel my face getting red. I don't know how i got so oblivious to my surrounding, didn't realise Evie holding a cake(choc mud cake!) and walking towards me. I gasped. And then I noticed Christine standing behind Evie, holding a huge box (It had shops and teddy bears design all over it, really really cute, and it's the ONE i pointed very nice! very nice! to lay in at Ikano, lol). Double gasp. When too, did they get up and leave? (We sit at the same row in lecture)

So i made a wish, blew the candles. Christine passed me the pressie. sobs, so touched. i dont know how long i hugged the box for.. i luuvvvv^^. And then steph told me "open the box! And scream very loud!"

I took a peek. CARD... BLACK... ZARA... COAT!!!!!!!! *squeals*
It was precisely THE COAT i spotted in Zara. And then i found out that they actually intended to get the white trenchcoat from Mango, but then the store they went to was out of XSsize. So, they went to Zara and tried to look for 'something similar' and landed with that (bought black instead cos white was dirty). What a wonderful coincidence. I was too too too tooooo touched.

I love the present, and the surprise so much! I can't believe I was really surprised.. i half expected sth, but i didn't too cos it was exam week. But this, was incredibly sweet. Touching. Melting. You GUYS are the BEST! =)=)

Mom treated us dinner at Castell (this steakhouse in PJ) the night before. My sisters both gave me an Umbra photo frame. It's that 3-layered one, one of those that i liked too! And then Nic had more presents for me hidden under a table haha! how sweet. We finally opened up Von's card(from NZ) and Yi&YinSan's pres (parcel fr aus).

Saturday (Nov 11), CNS exam was finally over! Had a tiny belated celebration at Renaissance KL. Invited some of my uni friends over for buffet at Temptations (played with the food and posed at the chocolate fountain more than i ate! >.<)and after that we crashed Se7enAteNine! It was a really cool place, except well, the sofa was comfortable but a lil warm. And I'm glad my JWBlack Label phobia was over (found at during subha's party) so i can finally drink it again. haha. ;D I had a great night tho i'm so sorry i couldn't invite more ppl. and i'm sorry if i neglected some during d party. Thanks so much for coming and i hope u guys enjoyed it as much as i did somehow!

To every single one of you who called or texted or gave me pres/card (even if it was belated- it's the thought that counts!) Thanks so so much!!! =) xxx

Erase and Rewind

It was early spring. But the air was cold- it felt like winter. We were walking towards the city centre. We took turns and sang 'Bad Day'-- me one line and u one line. You were holding my hand. It still makes me smile..

How I Spent My One Week Break

I was a little bit too ambitious. I aimed to 1)finish foundation2 revision. 2)start revising CNS. Of which i have achieved : 1)patho only. 2)well, started a few notes.. 3)alot of shopping!!

Started off my holiday with movie watching: Evie, LayIn, Woonlee & I went to watch RobBHood. We almost had a movie marathon (the prestige) but d guys were not free to watch a later movie, so we scraped off tat idea. and then lunch was at Chilis - Triple Play. Fajitas. Molten Choco Cake. *slurps* hehee.. and after tat we shopped for a while, evie and i.. drooling over all the nice winter coats. hahah!

Then the rest of the days were random shopping days. basically been to everywhere from lot10,sgwang,timesq to klcc to mv to 1u. yup, i'll come to the curve.

Last Friday, HauChun,Kenn,Eve,In&myself went to redbox. and after that, layin and i had this super nerd plan to study at starbucks. hahaa, but instead we sort of got distracted and deviated a little bit. Well, didn't read our notes (even tho we brought it), instead we read magazine. At least we still read something lar, keke.. and we sort of exchanged magazine wit hau chun at first, hahah.. but men's health doesn't seem to appeal to us, we decided we should just stick to our juicy fashion blingbling magazine which we could at least appreciate the pictures. Over our usual Mocha Latte.

Well, hamster left after starbucks. and then lay in came up with this random plan "wana go and check out if they have a 5something movie for the prestige?" u see, i missed the movie twice. once was because i had zero cash left. another was because of wrongtiming. and everyone's been telling us about how nice it is, how must-watch it is. um, well actually cos hauchun kept saying it la.. hahaha. So I said "SURE" and we headed to Cineleisure, went all the way up but to our disappointment the next showtime was 6.40pm.. so we kept asking each other "So do you want to watch?", walking rounds until we found ourselves at the maindoor yet still asking the same question. Haha, at this point we went back all the way up and bought the tickets. We ate at our usual place again- Sakae Sushi. Tried the green tea ice cream cake!! the icecream part was nice:P ..

The Prestige was a great movie. I love tacky intelligent movies like these, movies that make u think, movies with a twist. it makes u wonder and in the end you might never have guessed it was so. Or if u managed to guess bits and pieces, u suddenly feel smart :P hahah! No spoilers here, just go watch the movie, i totally enjoyed it!

After the movie we still had half an hour before the shop closes, so being us we went shopping... and found some really cool bargains for scarfs!!! So fast preparing for nex year ady.. kekeke..

Yesterday, shang invited alot of us to her house for a belated deepavali celebration. and it was fun seeing so many of them after a week break. We played Taboo and had a good good laugh. But i still must say last time when we played pictionary and charades in genting it was funnier. hahhah...

Ughh, i hate it when holidays come to an end. It means i'll have to drag my lazy arse back to the books. sobsob.. and this holiday ending officially marks my must start studying time. I dont know how jack made me succumb to the idea of kissing an iguana if I didnt do well for CNS. *goosebbumps* i dont think i can even hold it cos i think my reflex would be to fling tat green thing off my hand! haahhaa.. I guess it was still better than having to swallow a cockroach... but i shouldve chosen tat cos then at least he would have to take the trouble to catch a cockroach. lol. eeee.

PBL in two half hours time....

Priority

In yesterday's episode of The Gateaux Affair, Joe Ma told Myolie "Love is not the only thing there is to life. there's still career, friends. If you put career first, then relationships wont seem like such a big matter anymore.."

i guess it's true.

Down So Long

So many months has passed. Even more things have happened... both bitter and sweet. I dont even know where to begin or wat to say. but anyways, life still has to go on. So I'll just let the past lie.:)

I finally took time to update the links! And as it seems, my redbox craze has never ended. During selectives, me,kaisin and layin went redbox 3 times in a span of a week! With a lot more last minute karaoke sessions wit sis(s) or layin&kaisin. I also picked up darts and a CS-craze-which-didn't-last-too-long:P. Spent my semester break in Redang, too much to mention but truly was a blast! We celebrated post imucup cheerleaders outing with a swensen's + redbox combo. it was craziness, but fun!! all those late nights we spent practising and polishing our routines were paid off... we've won silver for cheerleading!! and m204 won overall imucup champion! but m204 was leading imu cup already before cheerleading anyway.:D

As for the past month, its been crazy cos there'd been so many birthdays! adrian, chunpeng, dad, woonlee, layin, wenhao, shirley, ernest.. yes, i realise a pattern here everytime i post something up. it's 1)holiday 2)more than a month apart 3)theres always so many birthdays and parties! :D

On a sadder note, grandpa passed away. All i knew was that i was in uni and i got a text from nic. i almost didnt believe wat i read. and all i could think about was the family dinner that i didn't make it to.. but it wasnt until later that night at the funeral when mom told me wat really happened that i really felt bad. But i'm really grateful for such supportive frens all around who stood by me, all the hugs and condolences, and christine for the prayer. thanks guys! love yall.<3

I have a new addiction towards hanging out at Borders.. just sitting at Starbucks, studying or browsing magazines. Sis used to love hanging out in borders when she was studyin in bristol. and i sort of caught up with the idea too... and i really missed Bristol, having been there twice-- and all the lovely memories including Borders. Oo, i just noticed of late they FINALLY brought Paperchase here!;D cherios.

And reason why i decided to come back with a post? I decided that i shouldnt just waste my medical student life unrecorded. haha... ive missed out writing about so many funny incidents that happened in uni & csu. i still remember one where ding was in my csu group. and dr.francis achike asked him where's the ASIS (anterior superior iliac spine) and he grabbed mr.skeleton's index finger, and pointed to the skeleton's ASIS! even dr.francis laughed :P Okay, i know it doesn't exactly sound funny, but if u were in the room and uve seen the 'innocent' look on ding's face as he did tat.. it was seriously funny. Then again, what's left to write? i'm already at my last system course and the only CSU left is MOCK OSCE .. which im so not prepared for!! >.<
